Victoria’s Annual Conference on Outdoor Education, “Outdoors Victoria,” is just around the corner - and I will be presenting our current thinking around the benefits, opportunities and challenges of running adventurous youth programmes through Aurora, Port Melbourne Yacht Club and 1st Victorian Sea Scouts. The conference kicks off tomorrow - I’ll be on on Friday.

This was an idea we worked on for a year - and although it has not advanced very far, it lives on through a number of activities that emerged from it (although we did not know that at the time we originally posted this article). The idea in a nutshell:
“Project Hope” is a program that aims to provide a unique sailing adventure for young cancer survivors, which has been clinically proven to have a significant impact on their confidence and outlook. By going on this adventure, they will have the opportunity to restart their lives, build their confidence, make friends with others who have had similar experiences, rediscover their independence, and learn new skills.
